What will my little ballerina do in a Tutu Studios Preschool Ballet class?

All class plans are meticulously crafted to provide the inspiration for movement so your little dancer is engaged and learning the whole time.

Each class we meet in a circle and talk about our favourite things, our adventure for the day and do a familiar warm up for our body from the tips of our toes, to the top of our head.

After our warm-up, our magical ballet journey begins and we go to a different enchanted land like the circus, fairy tea party, toy kingdom or outer space.

Each story has a focus on different fundamental ballet skills and movements. For example, in winter wonderland we might work on lifting our knees out of the snow – working on a ‘parallel retire’, getting the right shape and the progressions for marching, trotting and skipping.

Your ballerina will dance to music is that is carefully chosen to complement the story and the movement. And use beautiful themed props to spark her creativity.

Your little ballerina will learn basic ballet positions and their French terms. She will also learn about rhythm, shapes, spatial awareness, role-play, drama, and gain confidence expressing herself and tapping into her creativity.

At the end of each class there is a familiar cool down exercise, then bubbles, and a sticker or stamp.

Additional class aspects

  • Viewing Week
At the end of Terms 1, 2, and 3 we invite parents to watch the class and share your little dancer achievements.
  • In-Class Concert
At the end of Term 4 is a low-key in class concert with an affordable costume, medal and certificate. Your little ballerina will perform a ballet story and a special class dance. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to become a part of your child’s dance journey. And the children adore performing for their parents, friends and family. There are no lengthy extra rehearsals, no big, intimidating stage and no ticket fees.
